Tyler and Josh On Gay Marriage
Recently a few online friends and I got into an argument over twenty one pilots. He kept on saying that they were homophobic and didn’t help gay marriage, and I got a bit sad. Because, on the surface, they might appear that way. They haven’t made a statement on twitter about the legalization of gay marriage, they haven’t taken a part in many large scenes that relate to lgbtq communities, and overall haven’t said much.
But, here’s something you need to understand.
When I was younger, my grandmother convinced me that I was christian and to accept in god, lgbtq+ is bad, etc etc. However, when I got into middle school I began to believe for myself, and realized that existence gay wasn’t erroneous. This was about the time I came out as pansexual. Luckily for me, my mother, brother, and sister, are not christian and all supported me through my acceptance.
Now, look at Tyler and Josh.
They were both raised by extremely conservative christian families, and they grew up with the whole anti-gay perspective. I mean, Josh wasn’t even allowed to listen to Lush Day as a teenager. That’s how conservative his residence is.
Now, look at this post that tyler
On June 26, marriage equality was granted for all 50 states in the USA.
Many musicians took to twitter to react to the news with excitement, but many fans were critical of Twenty One Pilots when vocalist Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun didn’t make any statements.

i dont protect if same-sex marriage is a “hot button” issue that tyler and josh want to remain away from. we are on the right side of history here and staying silent about it IS sending a message. we’re scared! we desire to feel fancy they accept us! and if there are tons of us who are genuinely terrified over this, thats a serious issue.
if tyler and josh arent speaking about it because they dont want to drop homophobic fans, they
Twenty One Pilots Frontman Tyler Joseph Apologizes For ‘Insensitive’ Tweets

And now Twenty One Pilots have somehow joined the jokes thanks to a satirical Washington Post article which envisions what Straight Pride would look like.
“The first float is a steaming tub with two bros sitting in it, five feet apart, because they are not gay!” it reads. “Next come hundreds of dads in flannel, furiously chopping wood because they are unsure how to connect with their sons about their feelings. Next comes a b
