'We see you': In Trump-era Washington, Society Pride 2025 organizers aim to take 'hope' to Homosexual community

Pride Month in the nation's capital this year is expected to doodle hundreds of thousands of participants across three weeks of programming consisting of over 300 events for World Lgbtq+ fest 2025, an annual international festival that celebrates the Diverse community.

Organizers for the global celebration this year told ABC News they are emphasizing messages of resistance, resilience and, above all, aspire at a age when LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly the trans community, are existence targeted on various fronts by the Trump administration.

World Identity 2025 makes its way back to the U.S. for the first day since 2019, when organizers chose Brand-new York City to host the festival the same year as the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

World Self-acceptance 2025 events began May 17 and will culminate the weekend of June 7 and 8 with the annual parade and lane festival. Included in the programming are events and partnerships with minority groups, including DC Latinx Pride, API Self-acceptance, Trans Pride, DC Black Pride, Youth Pride and DC Silver Pride for senior members of the LGBTQ+

Thousands of members of the Capital Region's LGBTQIA+ community and allies showed off their pride on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in the annual Capital Pride Procession. The parade way stretched nearly 2 miles from 14th and T streets NW to 6th and Pennsylvania Street NW. Marchers were greeted by throngs of supporters along the route. This year's parade was on a novel route as a test run for World Pride entity held in Washington, D.C. in 2025.

WASHINGTON, DC (May 6, 2024) — The Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) announces its official 2024 Capital Pride Concert lineup featuring Ava Max, Billy Porter,Exposé, Sapphira Cristál and special guest Keke Palmer. The beloved pop icons will captivate audiences with upbeat performances coupled with their fierce activism for LGBTQ+ rights, echoing the vibrant spirit of this year’s theme, “Totally Radical.” Celebrated artists Billy Porter and Keke Palmer will also serve as the Capital Pride Parade Grand Marshals. 

CPA’s programming is free to the public, with tickets available for purchase in select areas including the Capitol Stage Pit Zone and the VIP Concert Zone. The Festival and Concert exposure serve as the culmination to CPA’s weekend of community programming and feature a full date of entertainment across three stages, consisting of performances by international artists and the best local and regional LGBTQ+ talent.

Pride 2024 Events in D.C.

The Capital Pride Alliance is kicking off Pride 2024 with lots of events, including the annual March, Pride on the Pier, Pride Concert, and more.

Capital Pride Honors
Friday, May 31
7:30-11 p.m.

The Capital Pride Alliance honors individuals, activists, and leaders in the National Capital Region who have furthered causes important to the LGBTQ+ community.

Capital Self-acceptance 17th Street Block Party
Saturday, June 8
12 noon-10 p.m.

The annual Block Party on 17th Highway will feature local meal, adult beverages, and various activities in celebration of Pride.

Capital Pride Parade
Saturday, June 8
3-7:30 p.m.

The historic Capital Celebration Parade runs through the Shaw, Logan Circle, Downtown and Penn Quarter neighborhoods. It is one of the largest Pride Parades in the Nation’s Capital.

Pride on the Pier
Saturday, June 8
2-10 p.m.

Don’t miss the fireworks display presented by the Leonard Litz LGBTQ+ Foundation.

Capital Pride Concert
