1 direction gay

What if, in 2012, one of the One Direction boys decided to relate the world he was gay? Would his umpteen million devoted female fans take the news OK? That is the question I asked Lance Bass during an interview on my SiriusXM show, The Six Pack.

"I actually think they would," Bass said, without hesitating. "The younger generation is way smarter than we were. They're way more perceptive, and they just don't care. ... Support then there was no way in hell I would come out."

These are bold words coming from Bass, practically the founding father of the yes-I'm-gay pop-star narrative. Bass is a veteran of the boy-band machine, which has experienced a major resurgence since the rise of the UK's One Route and The Wanted. In 2006, four years after *NSYNC announced its plans to go on hiatus, he finally came out publicly, appearing on the cover of People Magazine with the headline "I'M GAY."

Have minds and perceptions really changed as quickly as Bass believes? If 1D's Harry or Zayn or Louis or Niall or Liam (did I forget any?) were actually to arrive out, would they be welcomed with open arms, both by their fans and the industry they've revitalized?

Harry Styles: ‘I’m not just sprinkling in sexual ambiguity to be interesting’

Here he comes, one of the planet’s most conspicuous young men, stepping out of the London drizzle and into a dusty suburban pub. If there was an old vinyl record player in the place it would scratch peaceful. Instead, the two-dozen punters turn hushed and intent, as if a unicorn has just trotted in off the street, and nobody wants to scare it off. “That’s frickin’ Harry frickin’ Styles,” whispers a young man at the bar, “in this pub.” The pop star is asked what he wants to brew and in a voice already inclined to undertones, hush orders a cup of tea.

A former teen star who is now 25, a happier and rockier solo designer since his boyband One Direction split a few years ago, Styles has hidden himself inside a large, swamp-green parka. He’s elevated, around the 6ft mark, and carries himself with a slight stoop. If Styles could only do something about his appearance from the neck up (elfin brow, expansive Joker smile, a face that’s recognisable across multiple continents) you sense he could drink in pubs like this anonymously enough. As it is, cover blown, he removes the parka. A woolly jumper beneath has a pictu

WHAT’S THE G.A.Y. GIG?

Back in the days of yore, One Command performed at a gay club and I’m pretty sure it was the best time of their lives. Well, it was the best time of Louis’ life at least.

Niall smashed cake in Louis’ face and Harry looked like he was over the moon about it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Louis more happy than when he was covered in sticky alabaster stuff, singing in front of a room of gay men.

He’s enjoying himself so much and entity a little flirt about it, I mean come on who licks their fingers like that in public

I dare you to reveal me something better than this picture. You can’t.

I’m sorry I don’t really have any photos of the other boys during this performance, but Louis compassionate of stole the show. So. THAT is the legendary G.A.Y gig.

One Direction tell their childish gay fans: “Just be yourself”

One Direction tell their young gay fans “don’t be afraid to be the person that you are”.

THE GLOBAL boyband sounded their support to facilitate those struggling to enter to terms with their sexuality and come out as they revealed their own ‘guy crushes’.

Singer Zayn Malik told the London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard:“Just be yourself. If that’s who you are, that’s who you are and don’t be afraid to be the person that you are.”

The heartthrob also revealed his favourite male idol.“I wouldn’t necessarily speak I have a passion on him but I really appreciate Jake Gyllenhaal’s acting. I’ve seen him in a film called Prisoners. He’s so sick.”

Bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan also admitted they can appreciate it when they see a warm guy.

Louis said:“David Beckham is just a cool, cold guy but I saw Russell Brand on Jonathan Ross and he just speaks so incredibly. I look up to him he’s cool.”

Irish bandmate Niall Horan, added: “Johnny Depp is pretty sick and he’s a really friendly fella too.”

A spokesperson for the London Lesbian Male lover Switchboard, said:“Despite LGBT+ people being well represented in the media t
